In last month’s Northern Territory Export Awards, ICAE took home the Education and Training Award. Even with a long list of awards and achievements, this success is particularly special for ICAE as it highlights the hard work put in by staff and students over the last few years.
“The export industry in the NT makes a significant contribution to the economy … [and] ICAE is proud to be honored for our commitment to education export in the Territory.” ICAE CEO Sean Mahoney said.
At the core of ICAE’s export success is their industry placement program where international students complete at least 1100 hours of work experience at an operational hospitality enterprise. With the shortage of skilled hospitality workers in Darwin, industry placement helps ease local hospitality recruitment headaches and equips graduates with the skills and experience to gain employment throughout the world. As this work experience usually comes in the form of paid employment, it provides students provided with an economically sustainable study opportunity
ICAE’s success can be also be attributed to a commitment to human resource development, an innovative educational approach and the use of new technologies to enhance export efficiency across ICAE’s small but versatile business units.
The NT Export Award will sit alongside ICAE’s numerous other awards including National Training Awards, NT Brolga Awards and the NT Training Initiative Award.
