The Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification provides a pathway to work as a supervisor in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. The Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage, and gaming.

Duration: 12 – 24 months. Training and assessment are delivered on campus and at your workplace. Training and assessment material is online and available 24/7. Read more in the Course Guide which can be downloaded below.

Fees: Contact ICAE to see if you are eligible for state/federal funding which provides the course at no cost to you. If you are not eligible for government funding, courses are also offered on a fee-for-service basis.

This Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality service, sales or operational skills combined with supervisory skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to plan, monitor and evaluate the work of team members. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others, and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

Students undertaking this Certificate IV in Hospitality course receive tuition at ICAE’s Rapid Creek campus and participate in practical assessments at their workplace. This ensures that students actually demonstrate their workplace competence in a real working environment – the ultimate confirmation of work readiness. Workplace Supervisors can ensure that students are ready to demonstrate their skills, and students can prepare and perform in their own workplace in an environment they are familiar with.

Course structure

All students enrolled in the Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification must undertake all the Core Units, plus 12 electives as guided by ICAE. Domestic students undertaking funded programs will have electives guided by their current and/or anticipated job role (see Unit List).​
