From Classroom to Career: How ICAE Students Pack Their Portfolios (and Pockets) with Paid Placements

If there’s one thing better than graduating with a world-class qualification, it’s graduating with a resume already packed with local industry experience—and a healthier bank account. At ICAE, we don’t just teach hospitality and culinary arts; we live it.

Our unique course structure is built around industry placements of 25 hours per week for 20 weeks, with the opportunity to have them fully paid. Our international students secure placements with Darwin’s top hospitality venues thanks to ICAE’s deep-rooted industry partnerships. Whether you’re whipping up local delicacies at one of Darwin’s many fine restaurants, or running the floor at a bustling harbour-view bar, you are gaining real-world skills, earning an Australian wage (if undertaking a paid placement), and filling crucial workforce gaps in the Northern Territory.

Student Snapshot: “I have been working in Wisdom Bar & Cafe for 2 years and have learnt a lot from here. I have been cooking a lot of food and learning. There are a lot of good chefs to learn from. It is also a good environment to work in. – Pratik, Kitchen Management Graduate.
