Our award-winning college offers fifteen certified courses delivered by industry professionals
In ICAE’s Hospitality and Commercial Cookery programs, we help you to focus on developing your career with relevant study combined with real work opportunities in the hospitality industry.
In our tuition semesters (half of the course), students are required to attend college for 20 hours per week, and can undertake paid employment up to 40 hours per fortnight.
In our Industry Placement semesters (half of the course), students are required to undertake paid employment (or unpaid work experience) between 25 to 45 hours per week, and are not required to attend college. Students are regularly assessed on-the-job by ICAE teachers.
Darwin has the highest employment rate of any Australian capital city. There are plenty of hospitality jobs on offer all year round.
Students can earn up to A$4,000 per month while on industry placement (internship).
ICAE assists with job placement, and can even place students in unpaid work experience positions if needed.
International students get the same workplace rights as Australian workers, so you will receive the same pay and conditions as your Australian counterparts.
Darwin’s hospitality industry has a major shortage of skilled workers, so you can find the Industry Placement that is right for you.
Industry Placement is the best way of putting theory into practice, building a solid career, and making invaluable employer contacts.
*ICAE assists students in finding jobs while they study by using our wide range of industry contacts in Darwin, however ICAE does not guarantee paid work. Although ICAE strives to help every student gain paid work, unpaid work experience whilst in Industry Placement may be arranged for students who are not offered a paid position. Unpaid work experience may also be required for students who cannot gather all the work experience required as part of the course.
