The overall goal of ILO’s TVET project is to reduce poverty through reforms to the TVET system, thus enabling more people to gain employability skills and generate income through jobs or self-employment. Component 5 addresses the needs of the underprivileged (children, women, disabled people and those in rural localities) and aims to overcome the barriers to their inclusion in publicly funded TVET. Some of the key activities in Component 5 are developing a system for recognition of prior learning, increasing working children’s access to TVET and mainstreaming community-based training into the TVET system.
